On April 3rd I was informed that our company website and associated email was down, and after a little digging found out that our host, Register.com, had been hit by a vicious DDOS attack. This attack on Register.com coincided with the well publicized spread of the Conficker worm, so I naturally assumed it was involved somehow. I proceeded to investigate Conficker by googling it, but in doing my research I may have exposed my computer to another form of attack.
